No, I did not just get back from the wildfires in California.
I took this two nights ago here in Swarthmore:



I didn't get the picture I really wanted, which would have shown a copper-colored crescent moon setting over the barn in front of all that well-lit fog, because by the time I saw it, ran home, put new batteries in my camera and got back the moon had gone below the barn. Oh well. So, I now have a digital camera and am taking teensy steps toward knowing how to use it!

One of my requirements when I got a digital camera was that it had to be small enough that it would fit in my coat pocket. I figure that most of the pictures I'll want to take are spontaneous "wow, that's cool!" shots, and so it's good to be ready at any time.

A Minolta Dimage S414. Has all the features I wanted (lots of control, good optical zoom, low price) except the ability to take time-lapse movies. And I'm working on a way around that...
