In base 16, I just turned 28.
Here in our decimal system, it's 40.
If we used base 8, I'd be 50!
But I think trinary says it best: 1111

Erm. I hate to quibble on your birthday, but the base 16 has to be wrong --- 40 can't be an odd number in an even base. I believe it's 28 (which is like 25, i'll grant you, since it's base 16. But still).

Anyway, happy birthday!

ha HA! The magic of editing has just made your comment moot! Well, the first part anyway; the second part is still much appreciated.

You're right about my thought process: "base 16... so 40 is twice and a half that, so it's two and a half decades." I should have remembered it was hexades. Or perhaps just had more limeade (which is rather addicting :^)

Why do you think I started SWIL 28 years ago? All part of the clever long-term plan, you see...

That seems like it makes base 16 just as relevant as base 10.

When I turned 40, I thought of it as starting over in a new decade - I'm in my EARLY 40's now, no longer my LATE 30's. In any event, wishing you health and happiness for the coming year in honor of your birthday!
