Nothing traditionally-Laborious about it, but today was just one fine day.

Got nine hours of needed sleep.
Josh came over. We played Kahuna and experimented with an omniscience version that seemed to work well (turn all cards up so you always know what each other has and in what order they'll show up in the draw pile. Zero luck, all strategizing). Josh also helped me discover that my mattress is in great condition; it's my box spring that needs replacing. Any advice on getting a size 'full' boxspring?
We walked to Baja Fresh for lunch, visited Noda at all-day-Sharples-gaming, peeked at the construction work that has temporarily opened a steam tunnel grate (but decided lack of flashlight and lack of lack of daylight were strong disincentives to poking inside), and watched deleted scenes from Buckaroo Banzai.
I got a modicum of CD work done, then headed up for an inaugural roundsing that had 20 people plus, over the course of almost three hours! I had forgotten how good the harmonies on Rose Rose are when sung without its other two companion rounds complexifying things. (More accurately, we used an alternate set of words, Dear Friends).
And then Buckaroo. That movie is so gorgeous, even after two decades. You're just swept into the irony-free exuberance and over-the-top comic-bookiness of it. You want there to be an Eighth Dimension, and hundreds of aliens all named John, and even a World Crime League. Who wants to help make the next movie?

IHNBAB* but my impression is that the common purchasing choice is "would you like your mattress by itself or in a set with a boxspring?". Best places to try: real department stores like Macys and Stra--*sob* and Sears, and mattress stores like Sleepys and Mattress Warehouse. Give each a quick call to see where it's worth going.

In my three post-college mattress-purchasing forays (twin, futon, queen), I've found it's extremely well worth it to find a knowledgable sales-person. But it's possible that while there's a world of variety in mattresses, boxsprings are "tight coil or loose coil" and that's it.

* I have never bought a boxspring -- so I'm curious to know how it goes! Like Mark, my bed is a mattress-on-hard-platform design (Scandinavian).
