Someone needs a better dictionary

Abby and I went to dinner at Bennigan's, and I used a coupon for free dessert with a burger. It turned out there was fine print on the coupon: "Good for free dessert if you finish Big Burger And Unlimited Fries"

(the summer I had an REU at Argonne, some of us got into a contest over how many digits of pi we knew. Talking about it later with Mark Nockleby, he mentioned he had tried memorizing pi once. I asked him how far he'd gotten and he replied, "Oh, all the way. ...Well, I kept getting the last few mixed up.")

Since "unlimited fries" actually meant "the average-sized amount we give you with any entree", a good dessert was had by all. Well, both.

Today was beautiful, must-be-outdoors weather. I had originally organized a canoe trip, only to see those who had signed on gradually drop away leaving only (carless) me. So instead I asked folks to come sing rounds as a way of salvaging the day, and we had a lovely medium-sized sing, followed by a Gamelan and Taiko performance in the amphitheater (I want to learn taiko!), and a wacky game of crocce (kind of croquet, kind of bocce, kind of frisbee golf) with ccommack, Lauren, Jawaad, and tirerim. Far from 'salvaged', the day was 'most excellent'... but canoeing will still happen!
