Entering the Late Bronze Age
Aug. 17th, 2003 03:08 amYes, it's 3:00 AM. Yes, we're about three hours away from finishing our game of Civilization (where 'we' is Fred, Ben, Josh, Laura, BDan, Larry, and I). Yes, we started playing at 6:00PM, knowing full well that it's a ten-hour-plus game. And yes, five of us were just in a Civ game five days ago (typically it's a year or so between games, since getting the critical mass of seven people dedicated, fanatical, and available enough to spend a full day playing The Best Boardgame Ever is not easy).
But what else are summer vacations for?
The SWIL Mountain Retreat, which ended this morning, was spectacular, btw. Twenty people from across most of the lifespan of SWIL, lots of outdoor activities, indoor frivolity, and even a Shakespearean LARP (thanks to Fred)! Too much rain for its own good, but that's a minor thing. Too little sleep, but that's a sign of a worthwhile vacation...
